Authored by Sherry Turkle
This book was recommended to me by Professor Vanessa Andreotti back when I was doing my PhD. The text focuses around the implications that technology has upon our intimate relationships, our identity, and our social connections. This book was life changing for me, offering an exploration of what we are looking for and ultimately giving up as we embrace technology over each other. I have reread Professor Turkle’s book many times over the past 7 years and it never fails to jolt me into reconnecting with those who are important to me. As such, it is an important text for teachers, parents, and policy makers alike- indeed anyone who wonders about the path we are choosing to take as a society.
