understanding & using Classroom data MASTERCLASS
Teachers are awash with data.
Unfortunately, though, we sometimes seem to spend too much talking about the wrong kind of data; think large-scale assessment data.
Please don’t get me wrong, these forms of data have their place and use, BUT in my view, they deprivilege the often ‘mess’ data closest to the action. This is the type of data I like to call classroom data. This is a shame as it can feel like we are disempowering and deprofessionalising teachers.
In 2023, Dr Tim O'Leary will be delivering a 5 part masterclass with the goal discuss the possibilities of effective use of data within the classroom to improve practice and student outcomes.
The course will emphasize the importance of thinking about data differently and building data into day-to-day practice for the purposes of supporting teachers to better understand their students and ultimately supercharge their learning.
Over the five sessions, we will cover a broad range of topics, including frameworks and philosophies to support data in the classroom combined with the types and sources of data that can best support teachers in meeting their students’ needs. We will also discuss implications for practice and discuss practical opportunities for teachers to experiment with their classroom practice.
