Too often, we assume that understanding content deeply means teachers also know how to translate this knowledge into practice. But building clarity and credibility as a teacher is not just knowing what students should learn, it is also about understanding the culture in the classroom. Being a good teacher does not happen overnight: it is the consequence of the relationships we cultivate with our students. This program focuses on building competence, passion, and motivation for student learning as demonstrated through practice. Let’s get started.
Program Outcomes:
Facilitators will engage participants in a discussion of the areas of teacher practice that impact most on student learning and achievement;
Participants will learn about the research behind teacher clarity, teacher credibility and the impact of the teacher student relationship on classroom practice;
Participants will be expected to engage in reflective practices to help them understand how their own skills and mindsets impact on their school culture through a framework for application which will be provided to them during the session;
Participants will begin to develop strategies that can improve their practice.
Target Audience:
Early career teachers, established teachers, teacher educators.
