Peter Drucker once said, “culture eats strategy for breakfast.”

At the time, he was talking about the corporate world, but given that a strong, positive classroom culture can support children’s social, emotional and academic development needs, I argue that the sentiment is equally true in our schools and classrooms.

For us, improving practice in school is all about classroom culture, or what we call like to call the #ClassroomVibe.

From Term 2 2023, we are offering a 5-part masterclass series focused on using classroom vibe as a lever for improving practice.

Delivered asynchronously over five modules, participants will actively build their knowledge and capacity to use classroom culture, which Dr Tim O’Leary calls Classroom Vibe, as a lever for improvement.

Throughout the five sessions, Tim will:

• Introduce the concept of Classroom Vibe as a framework for helping teachers understand and enhance their classroom practice,

• Unpack Teacher Credibility and Teacher Clarity (two important influences that enhance a classroom’s vibe).

• Overview of his Classroom Vibe+ Inquiry cycle, a reflective process for supporting teachers to collect evidence to understand the vibe in each of their classrooms and focus on making minor, incremental improvements.

Who is this course for?

This professional learning event is designed for teachers and instructional leaders committed to embedding developmental approaches to teaching, learning and assessment into their practice. Principals, curriculum coordinators, Directors of Teaching & Learning and Heads of Faculty are encouraged to attend.

What does it Cost?

Early Bird: $AUD 250 (ex GST) + booking fees (before 18th April 2023)

Full Price: $AUD 300 (ex GST) + booking fees

Note: We use Humanitix, and 100% of profits collected via booking fees go to charity.

In addition, Tim is offering Classroom Vibe Coaching sessions for $150 (ex GST) per 45-minute session to support your ongoing growth.

WHAT IS THE STRUCTURE OF THE MASTERCLASS SERIES?

The masterclass series will be approximately six contact hours, run over six online learning sessions + in-school consolidation and reflection work.

• Module 1: Introducing Classroom Vibe (45 - 60 minute webinar)

• Module 2: Cultivating Classroom Vibe by Design (45 - 60 minute webinar)

  After Module 2, participants will be offered the opportunity to administer the Classroom Vibe Student Perceptions of Teaching Survey to a class of their choosing. They then have the chance to engage in peer coaching, or optional coaching with Tim, to identify opportunities for improvement, set goals and plan actions. There is then a further opportunity to administer the Classroom Vibe Student Perceptions of Teaching Survey with the same class to appraise the impact of their actions and identify the next improvement steps.

• Module 3: Unpacking Teacher Credibility (1-hour asynchronous session)

• Module 4: Unpacking Teacher Clarity (1-hour asynchronous session)

  Module 5: Cohort Celebration and reflection (45 - 60 minute webinar)

Please note that to keep cohort sizes relatively small (10 - 20 participants maximum), our intention is to run several small cohorts through this series in 2023.
